FOURTEEN BULLETS PRESS RELEASE (January 2005)

Lansdowne, PA, January 25, 2005 -- Silver Lake Publishing has released Fourteen Bullets, a collection of short fiction by John Ling. This publication is the first compilation of Ling's military thrillers, and he has chosen fourteen of his best stories for this work. It is available in trade paperback and ebook formats. Details and ordering information can be found at http://www.silverlakepublishing.com.

In Fourteen Bullets, Ling uses his stories to tell exciting adventures while also commenting on many humanitarian issues that present themselves in times of war and conflict. "Broken", which begins the collection, relates the tale of two old friends who find themselves on opposite sides of a genocidal war. Other stories deal with a Red Cross worker who tries to save an infant child, an assassin who wants to make amends, and a journalist who discovers the truth behind "blood diamonds". The collection ends with "Redrum", a fictionalized account of the My Lai event during Vietnam. Marilyn Henderson, editor of PendulumPress.com, declares "[Ling's] characters and weaponry are dead on, and his action leaves the reader breathless," and Michael LaRocca, author of Vigilante Justice, raves the collection has "non-stop pulse-pounding action."

John Ling was born in 1983 and raised in Malaysia. His work has received acclaim from Malaysia's national newspaper The Star and the female lifestyle magazine Cleo, and he has also sold his short fiction to American and British magazines, anthologies, and webzines. He currently resides in New Zealand.

CLEO MAGAZINE (July 2002)

- John Ling's (http://www.johnling.net) website is less visual still, with its focus almost exclusively on text, since he is a fiction writer.

- On the other hand, John only took three days to build his, after getting a firm idea of what he wanted to do in his mind. With many of them international, John Ling's website gets a high repeat-rate of visitors, a sure sign that he's doing something right.

- "I decided to build a website to promote my work online. The Internet is an excellent way to directly showcase my talent to an international audience. The free publicity is priceless," says Ling. "How else would I be doing this interview?"

- For graphics and pictures, nothing beats Adobe Photoshop. John Ling says, "I don't think there's any program as accessible or as powerful as Photoshop."
